90 Minute Closures

Closures planned for work at Summerland rockslide, none over holidays

Dec 8, 2023 | 2:00 PM

Highway 97 between Peachland and Summerland will be closed regularly throughout December for work at the rockslide site.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said blasting at the site of the August 28 rockslide would be done during 90 minute periods twice weekly through the month and into the new year.

The closures will be between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on various days, depending on construction requirements. Information on closures will be released 24 hours ahead of time on DriveBC.

No blasting will be done between Dec. 21 and 27, or on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. The highway will be open with a single lane in each direction during those times with traffic control measures in place as slide monitoring and other construction activities will continue.
