Fire photo makes TIME’s top list of 2023

A photo of wildfire engulfing the hills behind West Kelowna was named one of TIME magazine’s top 100 photos of 2023.

Though the list in unranked, the image of the McDougall Creek fire by Canadian Press journalist Darryl Dyck from August 18 is the lead image for the annual feature.

The story that accompanies the picture provides details of 2023 being Canada’s worst wildfire season on record.
