Residents remain on alert due to rock danger

The City of Penticton has rescinded a state of local emergency after a rock slide threat forced residents to leave their homes last month.

But the city says an evacuation alert for 27 homes remains in place.

City officials say residents of the Pleasant Valley Mobile Home Park were evacuated from their homes while a retaining wall was put in place above that area due to unstable rock.

The stabilization work has consisted of the installation of six rock bolts and removal of loose rock and the city says it expects the work will be done by the end of the week.
