Latest closure on Highway 97 near Summerland on Friday

Highway 97 will be closed near Summerland for 90 minutes on Friday (Nov. 24)

The latest closure is needed for blasting at the rockslide site between Callan Road and Okanagan Lake Provincial Park from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

“For the safety of workers, blasting must take place during daylight hours. The highway will be reopened as soon as the work and safety assessments are completed,” a news release from the Ministry of Infrastructure stated.

The ministry said Highway 97 will continue to support two lanes of traffic throughout the winter.
