A new leader is at the helm of the Museum and Archives of Vernon.

Steven Jenkins has been named the new executive director of the facility located on 32nd Ave. near city hall.

Jenkins, who spent 35 years in the telecommunications industry, has a background in marketing, sales and operations.

He has also served on numerous not-for-profit boards including the Kelowna General Hospital Society, Okanagan College Foundation, B.C. Games Society and Cops for Kids. In 2011, he co-founded the TELUS Thompson Okanagan Community Board.

“The Museum and Archives’ Board of Directors is delighted to welcome Mr. Jenkins into our team,” Board President Maria Brunskill said.

“His arrival brings a new era of leadership, and infuses our organization with fresh perspectives.”

Along with his experience, Jenkins, an avid traveller, is bringing an appreciation for history, architecture and culture to the role.

“I am excited to be joining the enthusiastic team at the Museum and Archives,” Jenkins said.

“I look forward to supporting the staff, volunteers and Board, as well as embracing the new Cultural Centre.”
