Silver Star Road multi-use path nearing completion

Progress is being made on completing the new multi-use path in Vernon.

An update from Vernon staff on Phase 2 of the Silver Star Road multi-use path said B.C. Hydro and Telus crews were scheduled to relocate the final pole at the intersection of L&A and Silver Star Roads during the week of October 16.

The report stated paving was scheduled for the following week (Oct. 23). Line painting, signage, ditching, hydro-seeding, fencing and site cleanup would be completed once the paving work is done.

Staff said the project was still on schedule to be “substantially complete” with the road ready to reopen by October 31.

The project has resulted in detours along the road, with damage from the increased traffic to one of the detour roads, Rimer Road.

Once complete, there will be an uninterrupted multi-use pathway stretching from Pleasant Valley Road, past the BX Fire Hall and BX Elementary, and reaching the Foothills area.
