A Vernon real estate firm has hit a new high at its annual charity event.

The realtors at RE/MAX Vernon Salt Fowler held their 14th annual Pumpkin Patch Day on St Anne’s Road northwest of Vernon on Oct. 1 where people could pick-up a pumpkin for Halloween and donate to charities.

The event raised $2,227 in matched donations.

“This year was an amazing turnout with the weather being so beautiful and so many folks excited about opening day at the Pumpkin Patch, plus the long weekend, I’m sure, played a part. We are so happy with the results. This is going to be our biggest charity donation yet from this event,” Gord Fowler, co-founder of RE/MAX Vernon Salt Fowler, said.

The realtors were kept busy at the pumpkin patch.

“The group personally prepared and served over 20 dozen hot dogs, plus treats for kids, coffee and hot chocolate to past and current clients, as well as other visitors to the Pumpkin Patch,” Fowler explained.

“Salt Fowler has a history of giving back to their clients and to the community, and a portion of each sale is reserved for charity and distributed at the end of the year to the local hospice and/or local clients that have fallen on hard times,” Fowler added.

The real estate company did not say where the 2023 funds will be donated, but last year, the recipient was the Vernon and District Animal Care Society.

Local businesses such as Tim Horton’s, Caufield’s Engraving, Helmut’s Sausage Kitchen, Kal Tire and Vernon Teach and Learn made contributions to support the event.
