Silver Star Gateway business park expanding

The nine-acre Silver Star Gateway is being built out in three phases with phase three ready for development.

The business park is one of the few light industrial/commercial properties of a substantial size, and interest is brisk, according to Kelowna-based Venture Commercial.

Phases one and two were primarily light industrial while phase three will be commercial focused. Phase three will offer significant retail and service commercial opportunities with high exposure along Silver Star Road and Pleasant Valley Road.

“It’s been overwhelming. It is really needed here in the community and we are really fortunate to have such a great group of local entrepeneurs and large companies come to Vernon,” Venture Commercial realtor Jason Wills told Vernon Matters.

“We are excited for phase three which will have a retail component. We are working with a large anchor tenant on that site, and I think it is going to be really great for Silver Star Road and Vernon as a whole.”

Venture Commercial recently held an open house for realtors and city officials to update them on progress on the nine-acre development.

“Light industrial sites like this are really critical. They create a ton of employment opportunities and typically those opportunities are those middle class jobs, mortgage payment-type jobs,” Manager of Economic Development and Tourism John Perrott said.

“What’s really great here in Vernon for perspective businesses looking to move in is the Okanagan lifestyle is a little less expensive, which means there is opportunity to attract and retain staff for the businesses that are located here. The first step is to get more light industrial property like this in the mix and then get the entrepreneurs in to do what they do best.”

Each unit provides the ability to add a mezzanine for additional space suitable for office, storage or other related uses. The developer has completed a couple of show suites complete with mezzanines.

Phase two is still leasing and offers a drive-thru pad option along Silver Star Road which can accommodate a building up to 4,250 square-feet, a drive-thru restaurant, along with the potential for other retail and service based uses.
