Local RV dealer on track to surpass charitable donation goal

Voyager RV Centre’s goal of donating over $100,000 to non-profits and charities in 2023 has already nearly been hit.

The RV dealer in Lake Country said the Voyager Cares charitable campaign has already donated over $88,000 to local charities in 2023.

“While our core business revolves around sales and servicing of RVs, we believe in extending our impact beyond that,” Voyager RV Vice President Jason Friesen said.

“I just think there has to be more to it, and I feel like as business operators, we have a responsibility to our community.”

The campaign has supported several causes this year including Kelowna Hospice House ($11,250), the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation ($13,050), Mamas for Mamas ($15,150) and most recently the B.C. Cancer Foundation ($17,250).

“It means a lot to the B.C. Cancer Foundation that you would choose and trust us with these funds. These funds are going to help go toward revitalization,” Chris Mayeda of the B.C. Cancer Foundation said.

“The first step is a brand-new world-class systemic therapy suite that will be patient-centred and will bring phase one clinical trials for the first time ever to the interior of B.C. Starting with generosity like this, this is how we’re going to build Kelowna to be one of the premier research and treatment facilities throughout B.C. and Canada. Thank you so much once again.”

The employees at Voyager RV choose which charities they would like to support through the Voyager Cares campaign, which are then narrowed down to the top eight and assigned a month or months where they would receive donations.

The beneficiaries for September and October are Paws It Forward Dog Rescue and Critteraid Animal Sanctuary.
