Campaign launched to encourage economic growth in Greater Vernon

The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce is trying to draw in more residents and investments to help grow the local economy.

The Chamber has launched its Work and Invest Vernon marketing campaign to encourage people to move to and invest in Greater Vernon, and to get the message out the Chamber has created a video.

“The number one concern that we hear from our members, and across all sectors, is attracting and retaining employees. As a result, the labour crunch is having a significant impact on the local economy and community,” Dan Proulx, Greater Vernon Chamber general manager, said.

“Our goal with Work and Invest Vernon is to attract new talent and investment to our region, and to speak directly to individuals and families in large metropolitan centres about the career and lifestyle opportunities attainable here.”

The campaign builds on the Work and Invest Vernon online portal that was launched in 2022 to provide data and information on business and employment opportunities in Vernon for entrepreneurs and job seekers to review.

The Work and Invest Vernon website includes information such as population and household demographics, career postings, types of businesses in Vernon, commercial property listings, housing rentals, business resources, and information on the lifestyle and culture of Vernon and area residents.

Proulx added the new video will be “rolled out through various platforms in a targeted marketing campaign, and we are encouraging individuals and families in the Lower Mainland and Calgary, as well as from across Canada, to learn more about this incredible place that we call home. We want them to make their move and embrace the Vernon vibe.”

The Chamber added talent needs to be attracted from abroad to fill gaps in Vernon’s labour market, and business owners are encouraged use the video to help draw in potential employees.
