Ashton Creek fire being held, Shuswap River fire still burning

A fire that sparked Tuesday afternoon did not take long to get under control.

The Ashton Creek wildfire sparked east of Enderby at approximately 2:45 p.m. August 1.

However, the B.C. Wildfire Service stated the fire was considered Being Held by 4:53 p.m. Tuesday.

At last update the wildfire was 1.1 hectares in size and was suspected of being human-caused.

Meanwhile, the Shuswap River wildfire further east of Enderby and north of the Shuswap River Islands Provincial Park continued to burn.

The BCWS said the fire was discovered on July 21 and at last update on July 31 it was still Out of Control.

The fire was an estimated 22.5 hectares in size and suspected of being caused by lightning strikes.

The BCWS stated a 27 member firefighter crew, a helicopter and two pieces of heavy equipment were assigned to that fire.
