New BCHL schedule released, Vipers open on road

Opening night for the BC Hockey League’s regular season will be Friday, Sept. 22.

The now-independent junior league announced its regular season schedule today (June 23).

The Vernon Vipers will open their new season in Salmon Arm against the Silverbacks on Sept. 22.

Their home opener will be the next night, Saturday, Sept. 23, versus the Cranbrook Bucks at Kal Tire Place at 6 p.m.

Each of the 17 teams (Wenatchee Wild have switched to WHL) will play 54 games.

Key dates for BCHL:

Sep. 22 – opening night
Oct. 22 to 26 – BCHL Showcase in Seattle
Mar. 31 – regular season ends
Apr. 5 – BCHL playoffs begin

The schedule currently does not include BCHL Showcase games, where each team plays two regular-season games. The full Showcase schedule, as well as teams, location and dates for the BCHL Road Show event, will be announced at a later date.
