Vernon Pride Society gets incorporated

A significant moment for the Vernon Pride Society has been celebrated.

Members of Kidston Helm Ross Lawyers presented a certificate of incorporation to the Pride Society’s board Friday, June 16.

“We are very happy to support the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Vernon and we are excited to attend their Pride Week in August,” Jessica Murphy, legal assistant, said.

Murphy said a certificate of incorporation means the group has been incorporated as a valid and recognized society defined by provincial law (BC Societies Act).

“This means that they are considered a provincial non-share, not-for-profit organization. The incorporation symbolizes the Pride group’s desire to have this organization last for generations to come and to help foster a safe and welcoming environment for everyone in Vernon,” Murphy explained.

The law firm provided the certificate pro-bono (at no charge).
