The Rise adds tech to improve play

The Rise Golf Course has upped the game this season by adding technology to the mix to make for better rounds at the course.

Many of the holes are blind shots and new GPS technology and thermal imagery of the greens has been added to the golf carts, along with music to make the outing easier and more memorable.

Designed by the world-renowned player/architect team of Fred Couples and Gene Bates, The Rise is a 6,675 yard championship course located 1,000 feet above Okanagan Lake.

It’s layout, with generous landing areas, and five sets of tees at every hole, accommodates golfers of all abilities.

Each hole has its own unique character, and 12 of them showcase incredible views of the lake. The course’s tagline describes it well: “Where greens meet blue.”

“We have a whole new fleet of carts equiped with GPS, with lithium batteries which last longer and can go multiple rounds,” PGA head pro Micheal Van Horne told Vernon Matters. “The GPS can definitely help players with the pace and see more of the golf course in front to them and listen to some tunes at the same time.”

Construction of a new clubhouse and restaurant was anticipated to be completed this spring, that has now been pushed back due to an issue with the concrete pour.

“The clubhouse has been delayed, projected now opening 2024, there were issues with concrete, that was out of our hands this winter, but things are coming along really well,” Van Horne said.
