BC Cancer reps going door to door in Vernon

May 4, 2023 | 12:00 PM

Vernon residents may be getting a knock on their door from a representative of the BC Cancer Foundation.

The foundation said canvassers have started door to door visits in the community to introduce residents to their monthly donor program.

“Monthly donations support life-saving cancer research and innovations to patient care taking place at BC Cancer, helping to change outcomes for people facing cancer across B.C.,” Colleen Hamilton, communications specialist with the foundation, said.

For security and safety reasons, all canvassers wear ID badges and BC Cancer Foundation teal vests. Canvassers are equipped with masks, and will maintain at least six feet of distance when interacting with people at their door.

BC Cancer Foundation canvassers will invite people to take part in the monthly giving program only, and WILL NOT accept cash at the door.

Once someone has signed up for monthly giving, they will receive an email confirmation immediately.

The BC Cancer Foundation is the fundraising partner of BC Cancer.

“Every dollar we raise stays at BC Cancer to advance research and enhance care for the people of B.C. We believe that together, B.C. can break down cancer and make a difference in the lives of all British Columbians,” Hamilton stated.
