Dog park to close for upgrade

Another Greater Vernon dog park will be getting an upgrade, which will mean a more than two-week closure for its users.

The Mutrie Dog Park will be shut down from May 10 to 26 to allow crews to improve the walking paths, add shade trees, and a water fountain for dogs and their human guardians within the park.

The current wood fibre pathways will be replaced with more weather-resilient and accessible gravel pathways.

“The improvements aim to increase park accessibility and enhance the user experience,” Ashley Gregerson, communications officer for RDNO said.

The site on Mutrie Road will be closed 24 hours a day during construction to ensure public safety, and signs have been posted to notify park users of the closure.

The BX Ranch Dog Park on BX Road is currently closed as it undergoes improvements to its walking paths. That park will reopen on Wednesday, May 10.
