The rental fees for the new community hall that is under construction in Coldstream will range from $42 to $1,340, depending on the usage time, the day of the week, and the purpose.

District council gave final approval to the bylaw at its meeting this week to establish fees for the new $5-million facility on Kalamalka Road which also includes a childcare facility.

The construction is expected to be completed this spring.

Community use is defined as local community benefit activities, Winter Carnival events, community concerts, Okanagan Symphony, wedding receptions, “closed” functions, religious events, and to youth group where 80 per cent of the participants are 18 years of age and under..

Commercial use is classified as advertising, sales or promotions by local or non-resident businesses, and they must have a business license for the event.

The new hall will provide space for community and private events of up to 200 people while the adjoined childcare centre, to be operated by Maven Lane, will create 84 childcare spaces.

The federal and provincial governments provided grants of just over $5 million to fund the projects.
