Police keeping tight lid on dead person probe

Residents of Vernon’s Harwood area are seeking more details about a body found in their area earlier this week, but so far, police are not providing any updates.

The body was located in a car parked in a driveway in the 4600 block of 20th Street on Monday, March 13, and at that time, police were not sure if criminality was a factor.

Vernon Matters contacted RCMP for an update today.

“The investigation is ongoing and there isn’t any additional information for release at this time,” Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officer, said.

Back on Monday, Terleski said officers did not believe there was any immediate public safety risk, despite the person’s death.

UPDATE: An obituary posted by family members identified the victim as Sasha Paul Skrinnikoff, 26, who worked at the 1516 Pub and Grill in Vernon.

He left behind a three-year-old son and other family members.

Skrinnikoff’s brother organized a GoFundMe to help the family with expenses.
