Harley Race mechanic turns the experience into a business
A former North American Harley Davidson Motorcycle Race Team mechanic has taken his experience in some of the most tricked out garages in North America into a thriving business model.
“As a mechanic, I spent a lot of time in garages whether I was working on a motorcycle, or BBQing and socializing with friends. I worked my way onto a Top Fuel Nitro Harley Race Team, where I travelled all over North America, living and working in some of the most exotic, high-end garages and shops you can imagine,” Vernon Custom Garage owner Steve Dalke told Vernon Matters. “Garages have always been an important space for me for building friendships, mastering my craft, and having a space I was proud of. When I thought about what I could offer people in the North Okanagan, it was a no-brainer – providing them with a space they can take pride in and bringing their dream projects to life.”
Garages at one time were a place to park a vehicle and store a few things, but for some it has gone to another level.
“Garages have evolved to be a space that can work for anybody. We have seen people convert their garages to home-based businesses such as a photography studios, hair salons, home gyms etc. It’s also where people keep and showcase their prized possessions – motorcycles, sports cars, and boats. It’s a place where people develop their hobbies and it’s a space where people gather to socialize,” Dalke said.
