"S" Names for RCMP Dogs

Police dog puppy naming contest open

Feb 17, 2023 | 12:30 PM

Canadian children are being asked to help name some future RCMP police dogs.

The Police Dog Service Training Centre is asking kids aged four to 14 years old for name suggestions for 13 German Shepherd puppies that will be born at the centre this year.

The 2023 contest is seeking creative and original names that start with the letter “S.”

Children who wish to submit a name can do so online.

There are some rules for the contest: submissions must be made by children aged four to 14, one submission per person, the names must be one or two syllables long and have no more than nine letters and start with the letter “S,” and contestants must live in Canada.

One name will be accepted from each province and territory, and the contestant who suggested the winning name will receive a laminated 8×10 photo of the pup they name, a plush dog named Justice and a RCMP water bottle.

Name suggestions can be submitted until March 16, and the winning names will be announced April 6.
