Jan 25, 2023 | 5:37 PM

The cost of fueling up a vehicle in Vernon has increased.

The price tracking website Gas Buddy reports the average cost for regular fuel in Vernon was $1.59.9 per litre as of 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25.

That marks a 10 cent increase from the day before, and a 22 cent increase from the average price a month ago.

According to Gas Buddy, every station in Vernon had their regular fuel prices set at $1.59.9 with the exception of the Husky on 32nd Street, where the price was $1.58.9 per litre.

The increase marks the first notable rise in gas prices since the price per litre had a jump to 187.7 last October.

The highest local price on record was set this past June when the prices hit 216.9 per litre.

The consumer-driven tracking website did not provide details on average prices for mid-grade or premium gasoline or for diesel.

With the spike in local prices, Vernon had the sixth cheapest regular gasoline in B.C. as of time of publication. Two of the stations with more affordable fuel were located in Salmon Arm, one was the Tempo station in Enderby, and there was one station in both Fruitvale and in Trail with cheaper prices.
