Lynx Air cancelling service between Kelowna and Vancouver

Jan 18, 2023 | 4:00 PM

An affordable option for people traveling between the B.C. Interior and the coast is being taken off the table.

Lynx Air will no longer offer flights between Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) starting in late February.

The airline, which offers one-way trips between the two B.C. airports for as little as $39 a passenger, has its last flight between the Interior and coast listed as February 20, 2023.

Lynx Air has yet to respond to a request for comment from Vernon Matters.

In a text communication with a local customer that was forwarded to Vernon Matters, Lynx stated the Kelowna to Vancouver service was “seasonal” and the only route being halted.

“We will still continue for the other routes we cater flights from and going to Kelowna (Calgary and Toronto),” read the message from Lynx.

“[We] can’t guarantee that we will cater Vancouver to Kelowna flights in the future.”

The message goes on to say the airline is still planning to expand its fleet and services in the future, but did not specify if those would include additional operations serving YLW.
