The BC RCMP Major Crime Unit has arrested a man for the murder of another man in the North Shuswap in 2021.

In a news release Friday (Dec. 9), Chase RCMP say 52-year-old Paul Vincent Binder was charged with the murder of 32-year-old John Vance of Scotch Creek on Monday (Dec. 5).

The charge stems from June 25, 2021, where Chase RCMP responded to a report of a shooting in the 4100-block of Squilax-Anglemont Road in Scotch Creek. Officers found the body of Vance, who had been shot and subsequently succumbed due to his wounds.

ā€œI’m appreciative for the assistance from our partners and the ongoing efforts by the investigative team in bringing this matter to its current state,ā€ Insp. Brent Novakoski, Southeast District senior investigating officer of the BC RCMP Major Crime Section, said.

Police say Binder remains in custody as his matter is before the courts.
