New Dollarama in downtown Vernon

Vernon will be getting its third Dollarama store, with the latest one in the heart of the downtown.

The company’s sign has gone up, and crews have been assembling the interior of a building on 31st Avenue across from Surplus Herby’s.

“Dollarama is pleased to announce that it will be opening a new store in Vernon in the coming weeks,” the retailer’s media relations staff told Vernon Matters.

The building was last used for the Kindale Thrift Store, and before that was a credit union.

Vernon already has Dollarama’s at the Vernon Square shopping complex and at the Polson Mall.

Dollarama was founded by Canadian entrepreneur Larry Rossy who opened a store in Matane, Quebec, in 1992, and has grown to over 1,000 stores since then.
