Penticton votes for new mayor, Salmon Arm keeps Harrison at helm

Alan Harrison has won a second term as mayor of Salmon Arm.

Harrison, a former school principal, received 69 per cent of the votes to easily defeat two other candidates including former mayor Nancy Cooper.

All five incumbent councillors got re-elected including poll topper Tim Lavery followed by Kevin Flynn.

The newcomer to council will be David Gonella.

Meantime, the residents of Penticton have voted for change at the top, electing Julius Bloomfield as the new mayor, with incumbent John Vassilaki finishing third out of five hopefuls.

On his website, Bloomfield describes himself as a city councillor, father, leader, runner, businessperson, husband, mentor, friend, problem solver and entrepreneur.

In Sicamous, incumbent mayor Terry Rysz was defeated by Collen Anderson.
