funds vital program

Cycle Cycle bike drive rolls out Oct. 15

Oct 9, 2022 | 6:00 PM

The Vernon & District Association for Community Living’s Cycle Cycle program will be holding a bike drive on Oct. 15 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The public is encouraged to donate and drop off their unused/unwanted bicycles to the Cycle Cycle program located on the Venture Training campus at 4240 Alexis Park Drive next to their recycling depot (which will be closed on the day of the bike drive).

The bikes donated will be refurbished over time and sold at affordable prices, which help fund this vital work program.

If you don’t have a bike to donate, the non-profit organization will accept cash donations, and all donations will be entered into a draw to win a refurbished cruiser bike or tickets for two to our Retro Dance Party on Nov. 4.

The City of Vernon will be onsite with a couple of e-bikes people can try. Neuron, Vernon’s scooter rental company, will also be there giving lessons on their scooters.

Venture’s media partner, 107.5 Beach Radio, will be on site for the event.

There will be lots going on, so please come out to support people with developmental disabilities in our community.

Did you know…
The Cycle Cycle shop was established in 1991 as an important community program. A progressively green idea for 1991, the program was designed to not only provide a site for community members to recycle used bikes, but it also served a program to teach basic employability skills and bicycle repair and maintenance to individuals living with disabilities.

Thirty-two years later, this program is still going strong and looking to expand.
