Predator Ridge ‘terminates’ ties with Hockey Canada

Oct 6, 2022 | 11:50 AM

Predator Ridge Resort in Vernon is among the companies cutting ties with Hockey Canada.

The golf resort and residential community has had a partnership with the embattled national organization since 2012, but that has now ended.

“I can confirm that we have notified Hockey Canada that we are permanently severing ties with them,” Brad Pelletier, senior vice president of Wesbild Okanagan, Predator Ridge’s owner, told Vernon Matters.

“We were one of the first partners to suspend all activities back in June and have taken the next step this week to terminate our relationship,” Pelletier added.

The partnership saw Predator Ridge being used as a home base for a number of Hockey Canada’s summer activities, including charity events and meetings with players and sponsors.

Canadian Tire, Telus and Chevrolet Canada are among the other companies to separate themselves from Hockey Canada, joining Tim Hortons and Scotiabank over the organization’s handling of alleged sexual assaults and the way money was paid-out in lawsuits.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau talked today about the federal government creating a new national body to replace Hockey Canada, as Canadians have — in his words — “completely lost faith in the organization.”
