Kitchen rebuild at Prestige Vernon Lodge

A major kitchen renovation is underway at the Prestige Vernon Lodge and Conference Centre.

The hotel opened in 1974 and has undergone a number of upgrades. This is thought to be the first large scale kitchen renovation in decades.

“”They (Prestige Hotels) are gutting the old kitchen, floors, walls, everything, so it is a total redo,” B.R.I.C. Hospitality managing partner Rick Reichelt told Vernon Matters.

B.R.I.C is the owner/management company that owns The Lodge Kitchen & Bar, Don Cherry’s Sports Grill, Bourbon Street Bar & Grill as well as other ventures.

An Atco kitchen trailer has been placed on site with additional construction to allow covered access directly into Don Cherry’s Sports Bar.

“With this trailer we can’t do everything we normally do out of that kitchen. It just doesn’t have enough equipment, so the chef is coming up with a limited menu. We aren’t able to do any big banquets, but we didn’t have any big banquets on the books,” Reichelt explained.

The contractor has an aggressive two month time frame to complete the estimated $250,000 renovation, in order to be re-opened for Christmas events.

“All equipment has been ordered, a lot of work has been done ahead of time and they are confident they can do it,” Reichelt said.” The equipment is all going to be new so we are looking forward to getting back into doing our 500-person banquets.”

The Atrium Restaurant has been closed due to COVID-19 and a subsequent major renovation to the atrium roof and windows.

Reichelt indicated a spring opening is being looked at for the Atrium Restaurant.
