Aug 31, 2022 | 11:03 AM

The body of a missing man was found in Okanagan Lake Tuesday (Aug. 30).

Kelowna RCMP’s Dive Team located the body approximately 38 metres offshore in the McKinley Beach area.

The man, whose name was not released, was reported missing on the evening of Friday, Aug. 26, when he was swimming off a rented pontoon boat.

The man’s family has been notified of the recovery of the body and is receiving support through Victim Services.

“Unfortunately the Central Okanagan has had several drowning deaths this summer which shock and sadden all of us. Our hearts go out to the families who have lost their loved ones,” said Cst. Mike Della-Paolera, Media Relations Officer for the Kelowna RCMP.

“Two-thirds of drowning victims know how to swim. Accidents can happen anytime, and they can happen to you. Be prepared, be aware, and keep your PFD on at all times whenever you are on the water.”

The RCMP has determined that there is no criminality involved in the death and the B.C. Coroner’s Service has taken over the investigation.
