BX Creek dredging starts this week

City of Vernon crews will begin annual dredging work on part of BX Creek this week, as part of an ongoing maintenance of city infrastructure.

Removing sediment from the spring freshet reduces the risk of future flooding along the creek.

Starting as early as 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, crews will be conducting the work at the intersection of 48th Avenue and 20th Street.

Single lane traffic in both directions will be maintained, but motorists should watch for adjusted travel routes and expect short delays.
