Video leads police to Vernon theft suspect

A suspected Vernon thief was literally caught on camera.

RCMP say home surveillance video posted as part of a media story on July 27 showed a man checking a pickup truck and later entering into a storage compartment attached to the vehicle while it was parked at a business in the 5200 block of 24th Street in Vernon.

Cpl. Neil Body, media relations officer, said investigators with the targeted policing unit reviewed the video and through further investigation, were able to identify a suspect.

A 35-year-old man has been charged with theft under $5000.
