A familiar voice is teaming up with a legendary radio station to provide his exciting, edge-of-your-seat, play-by-play broadcasts.

Regan Bartel has joined Pattison Media as the voice of the Kelowna Rockets on 104.7 The Lizard.

It’s all part of a strategy to restore the Rockets profile in the city. More announcements and initiatives are coming.

“I am so excited to continue my passion of calling games for a team I love; in a city I adore,” Bartel said. “I want to thank Pattison Media for making this possible, and the Hamilton family for their support.”

Bartel was initially hired as the play-by-play announcer of the Kelowna Rockets back in August 2000. Since then, the Swift Current, Saskatchewan native has called over 2,000 regular season, playoff and Memorial Cup games.

Bartel has been to five Memorial Cups with the Rockets, including their championship run in 2004.

“In some respects, I’ve come full circle. I called my first WHL game with the Swift Current Broncos in 1995 on FM, and now I’m back. Can’t wait for fans to hear it!”

You can tune in to Bartel’s first broadcast on 104.7 The Lizard when the Rockets play the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday, September 24
