PBR Okanagan Challenge returns to Kelowna

Jul 11, 2022 | 10:39 AM

After a four-year hiatus, Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Canada is coming back to Kelowna, with some looking to make history this year.

The event is in the middle of the PBR season as riders chase the 2022 PBR Canada Champion title and the accompanying $50,000 bonus. Blake Smith currently leads the standings in the number one rank. Canada’s top 10 riders are all within 102 points of each other.

Additionally, several riders are seeking to make history this year.

Aaron Roy, who is ranked number five among PBR Canada riders, is looking to earn his fourth national title; while number eight ranked and reigning PBR Canada Champion Cody Coverchuck is looking to become the first back-to-back title holder in Canadian history.

Two-time PBR Canada Champion, Zane Lambert, who is expected to retire following this season, is also looking to keep his streak alive as the only rider to qualify for every PBR Canada Finals ever held, while also attempting to tie Roy for most Canadian titles held by one rider.

The PBR Okanagan Challenge will be held at Prospera Place on July 20.
