Investigation ongoing into triple fatal crash

Chase RCMP, B.C. Highway Patrol and B.C. Coroners Service are investigating a collision in the Shuswap that claimed three lives.

On Tuesday, July 5, RCMP were called to assist B.C. Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) at the scene of the head-on crash in the 400-block of the Trans Canada Highway near Sorrento at approximately 1 p.m.

The occupants of the two vehicles, a 51-year-old Sorento man and a 67-year-old woman and 60-year-old man from Blind Bay, were declared deceased at the scene by BCEHS before officers arrived.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but RCMP say witnesses reported an eastbound black sedan crossed into the westbound lane, and collided head-on with an SUV.

Police called-in a collision reconstructionist to assist in the investigation, which resulted in the highway being closed for several hours.
