Student concert in Kelowna to support Ukraine

Hundreds of students will gather in Kelowna to put on a massive performance in support of Ukraine.

Over 450 students from six middle and five secondary schools in the Central Okanagan will perform a special pice called Kyiv, 2022 at a special concert at Prospera Place Sunday, June 26.

The piece was written by famous American composer Brian Balmages, and guest conductor Dennis Colpitts will lead the hundreds of students as they perform together.

Following the massive performance, attendees will be able to browse a vendor fair while a variety of student bands and choirs perform in the background.

Local artisans, crafters and businesses will be selling wared, with a portion of their profits going to support Ukraine as it fights back the Russian invasion. Artwork done by students from across the region will also be on display.

Admission to the event, which is set to go from 12 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, is by donation. The public can also donate through a GoFundMe page.
