Sentencing hearing set for Vernon sex assault case

A sentencing hearing has been set for a former hockey coach from Vernon found guilty of sexual assault.

The B.C. Prosecution Service confirmed with Vernon Matters that Keith Chase of Vernon is set to appear in Vernon Supreme Court for a sentencing hearing on September 6.

The case dates back 18 years, when Chase was allegedly involved in a sexual assault that occurred between January 1 and March 31, 2004.

The charge was sworn in on February 17, 2021, and Chase was convicted of the offence on March 11, 2022.
