Fortis gets approval for 31% rate hike
Jun 13, 2022 | 9:30 AM
Brace yourself for a jump in your Fortis gas bill.
The utility has received permission for a 31 per cent increase in the price of natural gas delivered to your home.
It will go from $4.50 per gigajoule to $5.90, or about 11 dollars per month starting July 1.
Fortis blames the need for the increase on volatility in the energy market.
“The increase is a result of current global market conditions that have made the cost of gas more expensive,” the utility said in a statement.
