Video series showcases Okanagan communities

Chambers of commerce from Armstrong to Osoyoos will be featured in a new series of promotional videos.

Seven of the business groups throughout the Okanagan have put together short videos highlighting local businesses throughout the region.

The ‘Explore Next Door’ videos, which will be released weekly, will each focus on a specific community, starting with Penticton.

“What excellent collaboration between the Okanagan chambers promoting each other’s communities by showcasing all the wonderful attractions and local shops each community has to offer,” said Diane Kereluk, Penticton and Wine Country Chamber of Commerce executive director.

“No long-distance travel required to enjoy incredible experiences. There is plenty here, up and down the valley.”

The videos are part of the OKanagan We Got This initiative that launched in 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in an effort to share information and positive stories of resilient businesses and residents in the Okanagan.

The short ‘Explore Next Door’ videos were developed through a project to encourage shopping, and were financially supported by the B.C. Chamber of Commerce and the Government of Canada.

“The Greater Vernon Chamber is excited to partner with chambers throughout the Okanagan Valley and to highlight the great day trips and extended stays that exist close to home for Okanagan residents. By exploring next door, we strengthen our region, our communities and our economy,” said Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce executive director Dan Proulx.
