Public engagement open for Port Okanagan plan

The City of Vernon is accepting input on a proposed Official Community Plan (OCP) Amendment Policy for a new development project.

The proposed Port Okanagan development at 2525 Lakeshore Road and 7295 Okanagan Landing Road requires changes to the OCP and rezoning in order to move to the next stage.

The City requires OCP Amendment applicants to hold an open house to provide residents with an additional opportunity to consider the application.

To meet this requirement, the city has opened a channel for people to ask questions and provide input relating to the Port Okanagan proposal by emailing rnuriel@vernon.ca. The deadline to submit an email is 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 14.

Additionally, an in-person public open house will be held to discuss the project on Wednesday, April 13 from 4-7 p.m. at the Lakers Clubhouse.

The Port Okanagan development, if approved, would see housing, commercial buildings and a hotel and conference centre built at the site by Okanagan Lake. Green park space would also be preserved and a private park would be established.
