City floats new boat launch fee

Kelowna council is introducing a new annual commercial boat launch usage fee, starting this spring.

Businesses that offer valet, dryland boat rental, and boat club services will face fees ranging from $200 to $2,000.

“Council heard that businesses that offer valet, dryland boat rental, and boat club services now make up 25 per cent of total boat launch usage,” a city news release stated.”

The city said commercial boat launch users have to get a yearly license to use the boat launches and

Kelowna council has also approved a rezoning application for a 17-lot subdivision at 1870 Treetop Road in Black Mountain.

“If completed, the subdivision offers an important road connection between Treetop Rd and Turnberry Street, and Black Mountain Drive and Swainson Road,” the city stated.

The proposal is an extension of the existing residential subdivision.
