A provincial investment into the tourism industry will help support some local projects.

A total of $21.3 million is being invested into shovel-ready destination projects with over $1.39 million going towards projects in the North Okanagan.

Coldstream Station $624,257

North Okanagan Culture and Heritage Enhancement (Greater Vernon Museum and Archives) $280,896

Glamping Park Establishment (O’Keefe Ranch & Interior Heritage Society) $245,085

Vernon Visitor Kiosks $242,000

These funds are intended to support the people working in tourism and to help grow the local economy.

“Vernon is an incredible hub for arts, culture, and recreation in the Okanagan, and the industry plays a vital role in our local economy and creating opportunities for people,” said Vernon-Monashee MLA Harwinder Sandhu.

“I’m so glad we’re able to support this work with these important infrastructure upgrades, creating new opportunities for visitors to our region and helping people explore even more of the North Okanagan.”

The projects selected for the funding were chosen because they demonstrate tourism benefits to the communities and British Columbia as a whole, as well as provide employment opportunities for apprentices, youth, new Canadians, women and First Nations.
