Holiday season slower than normal at SilverStar
The holiday season was quieter than normal at SilverStar Mountain Resort, with several factors playing a role in that.
Chantelle Deacon, the resort’s communications and sponsorship manager, said due to the highway closures before Christmas, they had quite a few accommodation cancellations from people in the Lower Mainland.
“We also saw fewer skier visits over the holiday season, which was likely the result of the well below seasonal temperatures we saw between Christmas and the New Year,” Deacon told Vernon Matters.
On Christmas Day, the temperatures plunged in the Okanagan and stayed that way into the new year, a normally very busy time for ski resorts.
