Vernon is expected to receive another big dump of snow in the coming days.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Okanagan Valley, including Vernon and the North Okanagan, as a low pressure system is moving into the region.

The system is expected to reach the valley Wednesday evening, bringing with it heavy snowfall.

The weather agency forecast says 10 to 20 centimetres of snow will accumulate between Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon, when the heavy snowfall will ease off into flurries.

The system is also expected to bring 25 centimetres of snow to higher elevations, including along the highway passes.

Environment Canada warns that the rapid snow accumulation may affect roads and highways and asks commuters to go slow, allow for extra travel time, and to drive to conditions. Road conditions can be viewed on the DriveBC website.
