UPDATE: Storm Watch upgraded to Snow Warning

The winter storm watch issued Monday afternoon has been upgraded to a snowfall warning.

Environment Canada’s forecast shows a Pacific system making it’s way into the Interior Tuesday.

The weather agency says snow is expected to start falling in the North Okanagan in the evening, rapidly intensify overnight, then begin to ease off Wednesday morning.

A total of 10 centimetres of snow is expected to accumulate over that period of time, with Environment Canada making special note of heavy snowfall in the Enderby and Lumby areas.

The rapidly accumulating snow could reduce visibility and create road hazards, and the public is asked to slow down, drive to conditions, and be cautious when behind the wheel.

The Central Okanagan/Kelowna area is not part of the snowfall warning, with snow expected but not as heavy, with 2 to 4 centimetres tonight and 2 cm’s on Wednesday.
