‘How does someone vanish? It’s frightening’: Friends of Shannon White just want her home safe

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops RCMP say Shannon White’s Jeep left town on Nov. 1, the day the 32-year-old Kamloops woman went missing.

“It was travelling west, and it was gone for a 45-minute period outside of Kamloops.” said RCMP Cst. Crystal Evelyn.

Police spent Friday searching an RV located in the lot 32 of the Silver Sage Mobile Home Park in Kamloops and an undisclosed area west of the city.

“There is an area that we are looking at with search and rescue to see if we can find any clues or evidence related to this investigation. Her vehicle was seen travelling westbound on the TransCanada highway which has lead us to looking at some of those areas.”

For White’s close friends, like Kloee Davies, the fear of the unknown grows day by day.

“Like we want to know so bad. Anything we can find out. But then when you actually hear something, it’s really scary.”

Police believe Shannon left her home in Lower Sahali around 8 a.m. on Nov. 1. She was supposed to be at her job on Notre Dame Drive for 8:30 in the morning, but she never arrived.

The next day, her vehicle was found on Nicola Street near 3rd Avenue. It has been almost two weeks since her disappearance.

“She was supposed to come out and see our new house and she hadn’t done that yet,” cried Davies. “And that’s really hurting. I just want her to come here and see it and be okay, you know?”

White’s friend Nicky Michaud added, “How does someone vanish? It’s frightening. Really, it is.”

Michaud doesn’t know White directly, but they are both part of the Kamloops Jeep Club. She’s hosting a Jeep parade on Friday night for White in hopes to raise more awareness for her disappearance.

Michaud says White’s story has resonated with people all over the city — the girl next door, who simply went to work in the morning, and never came back.

“There’s times where I’m just simply driving down the road, and I’ll just break out in tears, because…I’m sorry. It’s just a horrible horrible thing.” Michaud.

The Kamloops RCMP were unable to give anymore information, but they continue to ask the public for any help in finding White.

“I know that there’s a lot of questions and hopefully in time there will be more answers available but right now due to the ongoing nature of the investigation there’s only so much that we can share,” said Evelyn.
