Workplace Vaccination Policy

Splatsin approves vaccination policy

Nov 10, 2021 | 3:24 PM

A vaccination policy has been implemented for employees, contractors, volunteers and elected officials in Splatsin.

The policy is in response to the fourth wave of COVID-19 and the below-average vaccination rates in the community and the Enderby area.

“We understand that vaccine confidence can be challenging among community members, and I want to acknowledge the historical reasons and trauma that have contributed to this,” said Chief Wayne Christian.

“However, it is very important that we work together to protect the community and to ensure that vital member services continue.”

The Splatsin Workplace Vaccination Policy will require proof of vaccination from all employees, contractors and elected officials by Nov. 30. People who have received a first dose by that time will have until Dec. 16 to get the second dose.

Employees unwilling to be vaccinated or attest to their vaccination status will be place on administrative leave without pay for up to 90 days. If the employee is not fully vaccinated by the end of that period, they will be terminated.

Accommodations may be made for employees who are unable to be vaccinated on a case-by-case scenario.

The policy will be in effect for six months before being reviewed.
