Quesnel RCMP investigate two serious crashes

QUESNEL, B.C. — Mounties in Quesnel are investigating two serious motor vehicle collisions that occurred within three hours of each other this morning.

Quesnel RCMP Sgt. Richard Weseen says the first crash occurred at around 6:20 a.m. when a red passenger car left the road and collided with a power pole on the Blackwater Road, near Yargeau Road.

“The collision resulted in a power outage to the area and BC Hydro was on site attempting to restore power. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision.”

He says the driver of the car was arrested for “alcohol related offences.”

Then at 8:55 a.m., Weseen says a northbound Mercedes lost control and rolled on Highway 97, north of McLeese Lake.

“One occupant was transported by air ambulance and two by ground ambulance. The highway was shut down for approximately 30 minutes, and then to alternating traffic while the collision was cleared.”
