Thrift store dumping a concern for Salvation Army

Oct 1, 2021 | 2:15 PM

The Salvation Army in Vernon is asking the public not to leave items for their thrift store during times when the store is closed and not accepting donations.

Neil Thompson, Auxiliary-Lieutenant, said when people do that outside of opening hours, it reduces their ability to serve the community.

“Cleaning up these messes costs The Salvation Army money,” Thompson told Vernon Matters. “It takes up staff resources to clean it up and we have to pay to dispose of it. Any donations that are just left outside in our loading area cannot be sold in our store. Please donate only during our donation hours.”

Donation hours at the Thrift Store at 5400 24th Street are Tuesday to  Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
