All homes in the rescind area are now on evacuation alert, and residents must remain ready to leave their homes again on short notice if the fire situation changes.

The Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB) has also made changes to their Evacuation Alerts and Orders in this area

The OKIB evacuation order has been partially rescinded, as recommended by the BC Wildfire Service to the areas south of Good Water Drive to the Mudhole Road, excluding Mini-Shadows Road.

The evacuation order remains in place for all addresses south of the Mudhole Road to the southern area of IR 1, including Whiteman’s Creek, Lawrence Beach, Parker Cove, until further notice.

The evacuation order remains in place for all addresses within Mini-Shadows Road.

The evacuation alert remains in place for ALL properties west of Hwy 97 and south of Irish Creek Rd and ALL addresses south of Goodwater Dr. to Mudhole Road, until further notice.

The evacuation alert has been rescinded for all properties east of Hwy 97 and along the east side of Okanagan Lake.

Residents that have sustained damage to their primary residence that has left the building unlivable (subject to confirmation) can access extended Emergency Social Services by visiting the Reception Centre at the Dogwood Gym in the Vernon Recreation Centre (3409 35th Avenue). Please note that the hours are 9 am to 12 pm, and 1 pm to 4 pm.

To ensure a safe homecoming to properties remaining on Evacuation Alert, residents should consider the following when returning to their homes:

· Walk around the perimeter checking for electrical wires, the smell of gas or hanging debris

· Enter your home with caution and check that the main power breaker is off

· Do not use your sewage disposal system unless you know it is capable of handling waste

· Refrigerated food – discard refrigerated food that has spoiled, as well as food that has been stored in a refrigerator that has lost power. When in doubt, throw it out.

· Frozen food – discard frozen food that has thawed. If your freezer has been exposed to fire or has been without power for more than three days, toss the contents entirely.

· Canned food – canned goods should be safe unless the can has bulged, rusted or is badly dented. Wash and disinfect all cans exposed to smoke. Food stored in glass jars and exposed to heat should be thrown out.

· Don’t be afraid to ask for help for mental or psychological recovery. The BC Mental Health Support Line is open 24 hours a day at 310-6789 (no area code).

· If loss of property has been identified, call your insurance representative to start your claim.

A list of wildfire recovery and supports can be found at emergencyinfobc.gov.bc.ca/wildfire-recovery/.

The Evacuation ORDER issued for the remaining properties in Electoral Area ‘B’ located on the west side of Okanagan Lake remains in effect including:
