Kalamalka Secondary to host COVID-19 vaccination clinic

In preparing for kids to return to class, Interior Health will set up a number of COVID-19 vaccination clinics at schools, including one at the Kalamalka Secondary School in Coldstream.

The clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9.

There will also be one operating at the Pleasant Valley Secondary School in Armstrong on Friday, Sept. 10, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

These schools are two of 12 that will be set up at schools in the interior between Sept. 9 and 13.

Interior Health said the clinics are being set up in partnership with school districts to provide the jabs for students, staff and teachers returning to school.

“Keeping schools open and safe is vital for the social and emotional well-being of students,” said Education Minister Jennifer Whiteside in the release.

“We must all come together to keep students and school staff safe and the best way to do that is to get vaccinated. If you have yet to get your first or second dose of the vaccine, your time is now.”

All students over the age of 12, as well as teachers and staff, will be able to walk-up, register, and receive either their first or second doses at these clinics. Interior Health reminds people that they must wait at least 28 days between shots.

The health authority also adds that vaccines are available at immunization clinics across the region. People can either drop-in to get their shots, or book an appointment ahead of time through the province’s Get Vaccinated website, by calling 1-833-838-2323, or by visiting a Service B.C. office.
